WHO guidelines The third edition of WHO’s Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality provides a state-of-the art
perspective on issues of water quality and health and on effective approaches to water
safety management. It describes a “Framework for Drinking-water Safety” and discusses
the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders. Developments in the third edition
include significantly updated guidance on drinking-water quality management, in
particular, through application of the WSP approach. Chapter 4 of the Guidelines
provides further details on the WSP approach.
