How to use WSPortal
The Portal is based on the animation presented on the home page. The upper animation represents
the 11 modules/key steps in the WSP development and implementation process as described in the
Water Safety Plan Manual. The lower animation focuses on managing the risks in every phase from
catchment to consumer.
Every module is divided into three sections as described below

Overview
The overview section presents key information listed in the WSP Manual on a module by module basis.
It provides a brief introduction to the module, including why it is important and how it fits into the
overall WSP development process. It outlines key activities that should be carried out, lists typical
challenges that may be encountered, and summarizes the essential outputs to be produced.

Examples and tools
The examples and tools section provides resources and guidance documents to support the different
steps of the WSP process.  This also includes the examples and tools listed in the WSP Manual. You can
access the tool index by clicking on the tool index/case studies link at the top of the page.  Tools
related to a specific WSP step can also be accessed by clicking on the examples and tools link within
a specific WSP module.

Case studies
The case study section presents lessons-learned from real-life experiences. They are intended to make
WSP concepts more concrete and to help readers anticipate issues and challenges that may arise.
You can access the case study index by clicking on the tool index/case studies link at the top of the
page.  Case studies related to a specific WSP step can also be accessed by clicking on the case
studies link within a specific WSP module.

When clicking on the lower animation in the Managing Risks from Catchment through Consumer
section, you will be brought to a schematic overview showing common hazardous events and
issues to consider in the catchment, treatment, distribution and consumer components of the water
supply chain. Similarly as with the modules you will have the opportunity to view examples/tools
and case studies relevant to that phase of the drinking water supply.

The search function
On most general pages within this website you can enter a search request. The search results provides
you with titles of all tools that are related to your request. You will have the opportunity to view all
tools/case studies and or go to a specific toolbox category to find other documents related to your
request. You will only be able to download the tool if you are logged in.
