Last month the UK Department of Health released an updated version of the Health Technical Memorandum (HTM04-01), which gives advice and guidance on the maintenance, operation and management of water systems within healthcare premises. Water safety groups (WSG) and water safety plans (WSP) were first introduced in the addendum to HTM04-01 (now Part C) in 2013 and was limited to augmented care settings, but within the 2016 edition the requirement for WSG’s and WSP’s now extends to all healthcare premises.
